The Ypres Salient - 2010

Itinerary ~ Tour Map ~ Pricing ~ Cashback ~ Booking

Following many requests and lots of feedback from a questionnaire in the Banyan Tree (BT120), we are pleased to be offering a visit to the Ypres (Ieper) Salient in 2010. The salient was the out and out 'winner' of our survey, with July/August being the most popular months for a visit, with August pulling in the most votes. In brief, the details of the trip will be as follows;

Ypres Salient - 2010
Date Schedule Details
Sunday 1st August Depart Hull via P&O North Sea Ferries

We have chosen to travel via North Sea Ferries as this will maximise the amount of touring time available. It also means that members from all over the UK will be able to make their own way to Hull in time for a 7pm sailing. All on-board meals are included in the price.

Monday 2nd August Arrive Zeebrugge

We disembark shortly before 9am and immediately set off for Essex Farm.

Touring

Our busy itinerary is possibly best explored on the map below this table but will include the Yorkshire Trench at Beozinger, Langemark, Tyne Cott, Zonnebeek and Ipers (Ypres). There will be plenty of time to explore Ypres and take an evening meal before visiting the Menin Gate for the Last Post Ceremony.

Accommodation We will be staying at the Oude Abdij, Lo. Breakfast both has been included in the price of the excursion, as has Tuesday's evening meal.
Tuesday 3rd August Touring Today we will be visiting sites in Belgium and venturing south into Northern France, visiting the Messiness Ridge, Oppy Wood and the Hull Memorial, Notre Dam De Lorrette, Vimmy Ridge and Thiepval.
Wednesday 4th August Touring Our final day will take us to visit the preserved trenches of Sanctuary Wood, the Hooge Crater, and Talbert House (Toc H) in Poperengie.
Depart Zeebrugge At 7pm we will leave Zeebrugge for our return trip to Hull with North Sea Ferries. Once again, all on-board meals are included in the price.
Thursday 5th August Arrive Hull

We anticipate disembarking at Hull's King George Dock at 9am, leaving the rest of the day for you to do with as you wish.

If you are not a regular visitor to the city, might we recommendoff site link a visit to The Deep, the world's only Submarium, or one of the many excellent free museums, before commencing the journey home.

Pricing Information

We are setting the price of this excursions at just £250 per person. When you compare this with the commercial tours I think you will agree that we are offering excellent value for money. Hoults Tours, for example, offer a four day trip to the Salient for £590, leaving from London's Victoria Coach Station (www.holts.co.uk).

During the tour we will be traveling on one of East Yorkshire Motor Service's air-conditioned luxury coaches. We will be accompanied by a very experience tour guide to make sure that everyone gets the most out of their visit. Top

Cash-Back Scheme

We do not offer our excursions to make money. Once all of the bills have been paid, any surplus will be returned to you. We have to charge more than we anticipate the excursion will cost so that we can be guaranteed all overheads are covered, no matter how many people decide to travel. The more people we have on the coach, the more the relative price per person will fall and the bigger the cash-back cheque we will be able to send out at the beginning of September. The system works really well; just ask anyone who has been on any of our weekend excursions. Top
