Why subscribe though EYFHS? That question is very easy for us to answer. MONEY. If you subscribe to any of the services on this page, the society gets a substantial backhander. We like substantial backhanders as they help us to keep the membership fees low and fund extra projects for the benefit of our members. To us, that sounds like a good thing! |

While we all like to grip about the errors and miss-transcriptions we discover in Ancestry, it may be worth thinking about how we used to manage before Ancestry and other similar services. We have all heard the horror stories but, if you were transcribing just 100 records, how many mistakes would you make? |

The Origins Network is a highly respected British organisation which encompasses Irish Ancestors, Scottish Ancestors and, of course, British Origins for England and Wales. The range of records on offer is very extensive and there are several levels of membership available for those with ancestors in more than one region of the UK. |

findmypast started life as 1837.co.uk and it has gone from strength to strength until it even rivals Ancestry in many people's opinion. An interesting recent addition is the 'Living Relatives' search and talking to lost cousins is a great way expanding your family tree. A new transcription of the England and Wales is also in progress, increasing your chances of finding misinterpreted transcriptions on other sites. |
