1911 Census

Sunday 2nd April 1911

The 1911 census is the next to be released to the public and is the first census for which the household schedule has been retained. This means you will be able to look at the original form showing the exact details recorded in your ancestor's hand. This does, of course, assume that someone in the household was literate. Several new questions were introduced and the disability question reworded. The details recorded for each person were:

The 1911 census sustained water damage before it was transferred to The National Archives. Approximately 5% of the volumes were affected with at least some information being un retrievable from parts of these volumes. Only one volume is missing from the series.
